Hawaii Hacking – Preparing For Your Trip to Hawaii
You guys, my husband and I are heading off to Hawaii sans kiddos!!!! Can you believe it? Seven days of just us, the sun and the beach. I cannot wait! We actually have a count down going on our Google Home to the day we leave. Naturally when we booked the trip I had to start looking for some ways to do some “Hawaii Hacking.” Here are a few Hawaii Hacks I have come up with so far.
Easy booking: Since this trip is for our 10 year wedding anniversary we decided we wanted to go a more romantic and relaxing route. We thought that a resort would be a better fit for this rather than an Air BNB or VRBO. One thing that my husband said he really wanted was an ocean view, and I wanted something that was going to be near lots of restaurants and beaches. I checked out all the travel websites that bundle all of your travel for you (this is definitely the cheapest way to go as far as I could find). I found that Costco Travel was the best deal for us. It was slightly spendier than some of the competition but offered an ocean view room and even came with a few extra perks.
Waxing: I plan on spending a majority of my time in Hawaii in my swimsuit and the last thing I want to worry about is shaving or razor burn!! Easy fix; a good all encompassing wax. I went on Groupon and found a great Local Deal for a Brazilian wax. If I am being completely honest, I am a little nervous about this as I have never had it done before. If you have any tips on how to make this experience any easier please let me know!!
Eyelash Extensions: This is the one hack that I am most excited about! I am one of those people who looks completely ridiculous with out mascara on, but what happens when my husband decides to throw me in the pool (which I know will happen)? I don’t want to have to worry about make up streaming down my face. Again an easy fix: eyelash extensions. There are so many benefits to this: waking up looking perfect (one can hope:); not having to spend time applying and removing mascara everyday and no crazy makeup streaks after a day in the pool.
Planning Ahead: We have done a little bit of research online to decide what activities we want to do while we are there and have even been able to reserve our spots on the tours we are taking. There are so many different experiences to have, it is hard to choose. We are going to do the road to Hana, a snorkeling tour and a zip line tour (all things that would be difficult to do with our kids if we decide to go back with them.) We have even made a couple of dinner reservations for restaurants that are hard to get into; I am so excited to try out Mama’s Fish House.
Packing Light: We plan on taking only the necessities. Swim wear, a couple of pairs of short, tops, a few dresses and a good book. There are some things that you can pick up there: a sun hat, a sarong, sunscreen etc.
Don’t Over Book: We plan on getting some serious relaxation in on this vacation. We have given ourselves plenty of time with absolutely nothing booked. This way we can decide what to do with that time while we are there. We always like getting to know locals wherever we travel. It is fun to get to know new people and they always know of the best local places to check out or eat at. We love giving ourselves the freedom to be able to change plans on a whim.
We are so excited to get away from the day to day grind and get on island time. What are some of your favorite “Hawaii Hacks?”
